In Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world, there are thousands of children in need. Through Glasswaters and with the generous support of individuals, we are fortunate to support more than 60 of these children living in two Nepali initiated and run projects.
Initially, our support went to 12 impoverished, lower caste children living at the Save Blessing Child Home. Since 2007, that home has grown to care for 34 children. Since 2008, we have also supported many of the ever-growing number of children cared for in the Early Childhood Development Center; these children had previously been living in prison with their moms.
Since 2014 we have sponsored a daycare center through Child Haven International’s partnership with the Women’s Foundation of Nepal. WFN, whose mission is to work toward a violence free society, cares for women (and their children) who have been seriously mistreated in the past. The women and children are given a chance to make a new start. The Women’s Foundation provides housing, education for children and adults, legal assistance, day care – a sense of security, a home. Visit their website for more information about their multi-faceted approach. www.womenepal.org
Our love for these children has grown, along with our appreciation of the ceaseless work and dedication of Kamal, Samjhana, Moni, Pushpa and Renu who care for the children.
